In women with PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease), the ovaries produce numerous immature eggs that eventually develop into ovarian cysts. The female ovaries are the reproductive organs that regulate the menstrual cycle and the synthesis of hormones such as progesterone, estrogen, relaxin, and inhibin. Infertility results from the ovary swelling and releasing a lot of male hormone due to the buildup of eggs. A woman's hormones become unbalanced in this illness, leading to a variety of symptoms such as irregular menstruation, weight gain, acne, hirsutism, and difficulties conceiving. If mistreated, PCOD, commonly referred to as PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), can result in other health issues such as high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Polycystic Ovarian Disease, or PCOD, can occur later, particularly with weight gain over time, but it usually first manifests around the time of the first menstrual cycle during puberty.
